Inspired by this movie, I've decided to committ to a blog about movies, books, and music that I experience. I recently read a quote that said to the effect that small minds talk of people, medium sized minds talk of events, but great minds, speak of ideas. And so, I am trying to improve mines by reflecting on works of art. Plus the keyboard practice is welcome.
I am no great writer. I won't claim to be. But I do enjoy reading and recently my tastes have been toward the European, the classsic, and the antique. You can thank Jane Austen and The Holiday for that.
But anyways, back to Under the Tuscan Sun. Here, the main character, Frances is a writer narrating her life. It is about her self-discovery (don't you just love those) amist her divorce. On a whim she decides to purchase a villa in Tuscany, which turns out to be the best decision that helps steer her down the path to happiness. She narrates the events with a quirky phrases and the pictures of romantic Tuscany are irressistable. The movie is pack with signs and whimsical characters. It makes me want to buy a villa in Tuscany. Or at least have a villa inspired house. The movie makes me miss Italy. There's just something about their way of thinking and their zest for life that makes it such a warm place.
